Software developer for CIWRO. I assist scientists in transitioning world-class weather radar research into algorithms that run operationally on NEXRAD weather radars. I've successfully transitioned two algorithms in my short time (~ 1 year) focusing on the R2O pipeline with more on the way! What kind of problems can I help you solve?
• Lead C++ developer for five weather radar algorithms transitioning to real-time operations • Provided documentation and support during software implementation in real-time operations environment • Created guidance for diverse team of scientists and developer to maintain software using Git/GitHub • Deployed software updates inside a standardized Linux environment using Docker images • Automated A/B testing for software changes using shell scripting and perl
• Crafted code to postprocess local storm report datasets during the 2022 NOAA HWT SFE period • Led a team of scientists to evaluate severe weather forecasts in research-to-operations framework • Mentored two visiting graduate students on research projects • Systematically modified DA parameters for assimilation of observed dual-polarization weather radar data
• Updated a data assimilation system code package to assimilate weather radar data into model analyses • Built automated scripts for MET to facilitate microphysics evaluations in research-to-operations project • Met deadlines of project tasks to secure funding continuations while developing publishable materials • Helped recruit graduate student to department
• Utilized simulated dual-pol radar variables to identify shortcomings in 2M bulk microphysics schemes • Evaluated the performance of the operational Unified Model (UM) for two rainfall cases in South Korea • Implemented the new Predicted Particle Properties (P3) scheme into the Fortran/Python-based CAPS dual-pol simulator to compare with other BMPs • Implemented the spectral bin Hebrew University Cloud Model microphysics into the CAPS dual-pol simulator to compare with other BMPs
• Graded literature reviews and provided feedback for the direction of senior projects
• Catalogued instrument and proxy data to help the National Park Service quantify climate change for park and landmark management • Created public literature to inform visitors about the state and effects of climate change on national parks
