I am an infectious disease specialist doctor at the interface of infection prevention and control, epidemiology and public health. Based in Ticino, I work as consultant in IPC at the EOC cantonal hospital network. I am co-lead of R&D at Swissnoso, the Swiss National Centre for Infection Control. My interests and experience span healthcare-associated infections, antimicrobial stewardship, infectious disease surveillance, applied epidemiology and One Health — including field epidemiology with Public Health England in Sierra Leone, arbovirus research with the VERDAS consortium in Brazil, and consultancies with WHO and GIZ on epidemic preparedness in low-and middle-income countries. I am committed to connecting hospital infection prevention with broader public health and community surveillance — and to building research that bridges these areas.
Activities include: Development and update of national IPC recommendations for Swiss acute care hospitals Operational leadership in the areas of antimicrobial stewardship under the Swiss AMR Strategy (StAR) and Minimum Structural Requirements for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) in Swiss acute care hospitals Design and coordination of further HAI surveillance and IPC projects Applied research and publication on HAI epidemiology, AMS implementation and IPC practice Collaboration with the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG), cantonal health authorities and European IPC networks
