OpenNebula is a simple yet powerful and flexible turn-key Open Source solution to build Private/Hybrid Clouds and manage Data Centre virtualisation. OpenNebula’s maturity builds upon over a decade of software releases and thousands of enterprise deployments, being widely used by industry and research leaders.
▪ Leading the “Production Platforms and Operational Services” research unit within the Advanced Scientific Computing (ASC) Division, with focus on technologies related to Cloud Computing, Docker and Container Orchestration, Data Management and Data Analytics, Internet of Things (IoT). ▪ Leading the design, development and deployment of an IoT-based service for the optimal resource use efficiency (e.g, water, energy) and maximization of productivity in citrus farming; the implementation of automated workflows for the ingestion of soil moisture and weather data coming from LoRa sensors and computation of derived indicators (e.g. evapotranspiration index). ▪ From November 2015 to November 2016, as a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the Supercomputing Center (SCC), supporting the SCC Director in the evaluation of new technologies for improving HPC and Data Management services. Leading the design, development and deployment of CMCC Data Portal (https://dataportal.cmcc.it/home). ▪ Involved on national and international projects such as Ofidia INTERREG, EuBrazilCC, Copernicus Services (CMEMS Med-MFC, C3S SIS on Disaster Risk Reduction, C3S Demo Case on Soil Erosion), GWP-Med NCWR – Non-Conventional Water Resources Programme
- Responsible of the Operational Group at OceanLab, leading the design and implementation of a data management framework for oceanographic products and services related to sea forecasting and safety marine navigation in the framework of TESSA project (http://tessa.linksmt.it) - Responsible of the administration and management of Ocean Lab computational and storage resources for operational oceanographic services
Development, performance analysis and optimisation of computation fluid dynamics algorithms on multi-core and many-core architectures.
- Responsible of the management of supercomputing facilities of Centro di Supercalcolo per l'Ingegneria Computazionale (University of Calabria) - Development, performance analyses, optimization of numerical codes, relating to shallow water equations and based on finite volume methods on both Itanium-based and vector architectures - Development of a high performance computing platform for the simulation and 3D visualisation of flood events on urban areas
