Consultant for Academia and Industry with respect to the planning, design and operation of lab animal facilities
NKI 2001-2019: As head responsible for the operational management of the facility (45+ fte). Responsibilities included: • Planning, design, realisation of a new state of the art Animal Facility for cancer research. And seamless transition from the old facility into the new one without hampering the ongoing research activities; • Design and implementation of an Animal Management Software program; • Implementing of Business Intelligence software as analytical & reporting tool for recent and historical research data to facilitate a data driven and effective communication with the research community; • Consultancy for an Academic Medical Centre regarding planning and design of their new Animal Facility May 2019: Consultancy for NKI but also external facilities, especially on the field of Animal welfare, Facility design, (interim) Management and IT.
1993: Responsible for setting up and running the Transgenic Core Facility for Leiden University. This (partially) fee for service based facility, served both the University of Leiden and the Academic Hospital Leiden. 1996: As (interim) manager responsible for restructuring the many department based animal units in the Medical Faculty of Leiden University and the Academic Hospital Leiden into a centralized LUMC Lab Animal Facility.
