I work at the crossroads of aviation safety, strategic partnerships, and crisis communication, with a background that's anything but typical. Before stepping into leadership roles in higher education, I spent nearly a decade as an international airline pilot. That experience shaped the way I think: calm under pressure, systems-focused, and always scanning ahead. Today I bring that mindset to two worlds. As Senior Lecturer and Partnerships Lead, I've built international collaborations, led multi-million-pound education deals, and helped design inclusive, future-ready programmes aligned with global standards like ICAO's NGAP and CBTA. As Advisor on Aviation Safety, Regulatory Strategy & Crisis Communications for an AI-driven earth observation venture, I apply safety risk management principles to technology that detects structural risk across aviation, airports, and critical infrastructure before it becomes a crisis. I'm also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), reflecting my commitment to excellence in teaching and academic leadership. Beyond the classroom, I'm known for making sense of complex aviation incidents for global media, regularly trusted by outlets like the BBC, Sky News, Reuters, and The New York Times to offer clear, informed commentary when it matters most. That work has also earned me MCIPR recognition as a professional communicator in high-stakes environments. Having recently completed my MBA at Imperial College London, I'm focused on building education systems and safety systems that are globally connected, tech-aware, and built to last. Advise on regulatory strategy and safety integration for an AI-driven earth observation platform detecting structural defects across aviation and critical infrastructure assets Lead the aviation vertical, translating airline safety and regulatory expertise into satellite-based runway and airfield inspection analytics Guide engagement with aviation and infrastructure regulators to support commercial deployment and market entry Shape crisis communication and stakeholder messaging strategy for safety-critical findings Contribute commercial and strategic input to support the venture's business development and growth
Lead the professional development of a team of 40 subject staff by conducting annual review meetings with colleagues and discussing with the Panel Heads, as appropriate; and support trainee lecturers. Advise the Board of Directors on departmental training needs and co-devise sales strategies and the sales and marketing department, with my market expertise extracted from my experience in the industry. Oversee the entire development of lecture notes ranging to over 10 different subjects. Provide lectures to students studying English for Public Examinations’ purposes to over 300 students every week either with live lectures or by videos with my team of English Tutors.
Make sure all information on the route, weather, passengers and aircraft is received and to come up with an economical fuel figure while ensuring safety. Manage an average of 40 flights every month operating internationally while ensuring all International Conventions; Air Laws and Company Procedures are strictly adhered to. Manage and coordinate with a team of 8-17 cabin crew; a team of 4 engineers and mechanics; a team of 5 ground staff and agents and communicate with Air Traffic Control throughout the entire flight; and to provide essential information to the passengers via the public address system. React quickly and appropriately to environmental changes and emergencies.
