Throughout my career I have built businesses, developed investment platforms, managed complex portfolios and led teams across developed and emerging markets. I have held senior leadership roles at Rabobank and the Green Climate Fund, leading origination, portfolio management and business development activities across multiple geographies and sectors. My experience spans infrastructure, energy, food & agriculture, financial institutions, technology and climate finance, working with corporates, investors, financial institutions, development finance institutions and governments. A recurring theme throughout my career has been building and growing platforms. Whether redesigning a banking portfolio and business strategy in India, scaling private credit and project finance activities in Europe, restructuring complex portfolios during periods of market stress, or developing investment opportunities in emerging markets, I enjoy bringing commercial discipline, strategic focus and practical solutions to complex environments. Today, I lead Private Sector activities for the Green Climate Fund across Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East. My role spans regional strategy, business development, partnership management, investment origination and team leadership, helping convert ideas, partnerships and market opportunities into investable transactions. I am most energised by originating opportunities, structuring solutions and helping teams succeed. At the same time, I challenge inefficient processes when they stand in the way of better outcomes. More recently, this has included applying AI in portfolio management and climate finance operations to improve efficiency, strengthen analysis and free up time for higher-value activities. My leadership style is built on trust, openness and accountability. I believe in giving people ownership, creating space for independent thinking and providing clear, pragmatic guidance when needed. The most rewarding part of my career has been helping people grow, building long-term partnerships and creating businesses, platforms and teams that continue to deliver value long after the original transaction has closed.
Lead GCF's private sector strategy, business development and investment origination efforts across Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East. Responsible for: - Leading the regional private sector team and setting strategic priorities across multiple country programs. - Building and managing the regional private sector pipeline from origination through concept development and funding proposal preparation. - Developing strategic partnerships with MDBs, DFIs, commercial banks, private investors, fund managers and accredited entities. - Driving market development and identifying investment opportunities across frontier and emerging markets. - Advising on investment structuring, blended finance solutions, climate investment strategies and private capital mobilization. - Representing GCF in high-level engagements with governments, financial institutions and private sector partners across the region.
Lead strategy, origination, execution, and portfolio management for climate finance transactions in emerging markets, deploying blended instruments (equity, debt, grants, guarantees) across a USD 6bn+ portfolio (mobilizing and leveraging USD 22.5bn in co-financing from global partners). Represent GCF in LPACs and board-level forums, driving adaptive management and measurable climate impact. Forge partnerships with MDBs, private equity sponsors, and direct lenders to mobilize cross-border capital and deliver ESG-aligned solutions. Mentor multicultural teams, strengthen governance, and champion disciplined risk management. This role provided a unique opportunity to manage part of a global fund with a distinct business model, deepening my understanding of ESG, climate finance, and adaptive portfolio management—complementing my banking foundation and enhancing my ability to deliver strategic solutions in the private sector.
Directed restructuring and adaptive management for a multi-billion-dollar climate finance portfolio, serving as Head of Restructuring and interim Head of Public Sector. Oversaw complex recovery strategies for high-impact projects in emerging markets, collaborating with global partners such as the World Bank and EBRD to align stakeholder priorities and enhance project governance. Introduced partner engagement plans, developed digital risk tools, and streamlined internal processes to accelerate delivery and strengthen institutional learning. Managed a significant portion of Rabobank’s broader European project finance portfolio, originating, structuring, and overseeing EUR 2.5bn+ in renewable energy and infrastructure financings—including wind, solar, data centers, fiber networks, and FPSO assets—across Europe. Delivered cross-border capital flows and led complex restructurings of underperforming assets, including M&A processes with US, UK, and Canadian private equity and lending partners. Navigated challenging ESG discussions at C-suite level, particularly around FPSO transactions, where relationship management skills were critical to balancing commercial interests and sustainability priorities. In several cases, managed sensitive client exits while maintaining trust and professionalism. Authored and executed a new business plan, driving a 75% uplift in P&L through disciplined origination, portfolio optimization, and targeted cross-sell across FX, CMS, deposits, and trade finance. Originated and structured tailored lending solutions (term loans, working capital, asset-backed finance), navigating complex regulatory environments to deepen product penetration and expand the mandate of the Financial Institutions Group. Originated, structured, and executed bespoke financing solutions—including subordinated loans, vendor finance, receivables programs, MTN/CP issuances, and integrated cash management—for wholesale corporate clients across Europe. Acted as the linking pin and coverage lead for Belgium, Germany, Spain, and Poland, while executing transactions pan-Europe. Managed a EUR 1.3 billion Belgian private credit platform, leveraging notional interest deduction and collaborating closely with the CFO office and tax teams to optimize governance, reporting, and internal fundraising for this internally funded vehicle. Coordinated with mid office and legal teams to ensure operational readiness and post-closing controls, streamlining settlement, documentation, and regulatory compliance across jurisdictions.
