Currently very happy spending my time with a major, sustainable renovation / upgrade of an old historical finca in Spain. Also creating a small facility to develop and produce an organic lavendel, jasmine and herbal parfume, an organic orangecello liquer and an artisinal wine using the traditional Alicante Monastrell grape. A beautiful renovation project, tucked away in a stunning rugged cycling area just south of Alicante. The estate of approximately 80,000 m2 houses a Finca with Moorish roots and is being transformed into a green oasis of tranquility. The objective is to renovate the Finca without making cosmetic compromises. The Finca will also be able to operate energy-neutrally through a cleverly camouflaged solar panel field connected to a series of batteries for storing the generated electricity. All rain – which sometimes comes pouring down in the Valencia region – reportedly due to climate change – is neatly collected in huge underground tanks. The stored water is delivered to all the plants, which are now green and happy, through an intelligent drip system – possibly supplemented with some extra minerals and vitamins. In return, my green friends convert CO2 into O2, what more could you want. The ultimate net-zero example!
