An experienced Petroleum/Production Engineer (40+ years) with a good knowledge of the integrated production system from subsurface, wells and surface. Hands-on with nodal analysis software (IPM). Recognized as an achiever with an inquisitive mind and a “people person”. A passion for teaching following an assignment in Shell Learning. Had assignments in: • Production engineering/Chemistry/Geothermal/CCS • Research & Development, • Rock Mechanics • Reservoir Engineering in cEOR (incl. reservoir simulation and lab experiments). A proven track record in: • Field development planning and data rooms, due diligence, • Conceptual well design, reservoir completions, including sand control and artificial lift, well surveillance and well testing (oil, gas, water inj.), well integrity and abandonment studies. • Production System Optimization (PSO) of gas and oil fields, Geothermal, CCS • Preparing Well, Reservoir & Facility Management (WRFM) strategies and plans. Well stimulation. • Technology screening, development and deployment, • Technical assurance and reviews, skilled workshop facilitator. Well adviser for geothermal (e.g Brielle, ECW, NL) and Carbon Capture & Storage (Porthos offshore NL, Barendrecht, NL, Peterhead, UK) projects in which Shell had an interest in. Supervised numerous BSc and MSc students. Published 15 external technical publications
MB Energy Consultancy & Training (i.o.) provides Production and Well Technology consultancy and training for the Oil and Gas industry but also for Geothermal and CO2 storage projects. The focus is on the integrated production and injection system with a specialty for wells.
Responsible for production engineering aspects of the Porthos and Aramis CCS projects offshore Netherlands, including well integrity, well operating guidelines, link with flow assurance, new well concepts, WRFM.
Delivery of courses on: Production technology, Production System Optimization and Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS)
Production Technology Consultancy for the Oil & Gas industry but also for Geothermal and CO2 storage projects.
• Production engineer/technologist for NBD and divestments and (re-)development projects (Water/Polymer inj. & Steam), • Data rooms for Middle East, Russia and other opportunities. • Support exploration projects with well test programs and Worst Case Discharge (WCD) calculations • Construction of well and Integrated Production System models using IPM software. • Design of wells requiring sand control and/or artificial lift • Authored PT guidelines for water injection design, CO2 well modelling, CBM wells. • Advisor for geothermal wells to externals parties in which Shell had an interest in. • Prepared Well, Reservoir & Facilities Management (WRFM) strategies for projects.
Participated in Reviews, VAR’s. Opportunity framing workshops. Lead PT in subsurface development projects. Hands-on PT modelling tools, incl. coaching of young technical professionals and other less experience staff. Well integrity studies. Screening of Fibre Optics applications for new and re-developed fields. Implemented methodology to assess polymer injectivity risks for cEOR projects by means of applying various software tools for the Schoonebeek project.
Responsible for the design, maintenance and delivery of a number of production technology courses: (Applied) Production Technology, Well & Reservoir Surveillance, Integrated Production Modelling, Production System Optimization, Fracking & Stimulation, Perforating. Shell EP Learning focal point for the Curtin University Mtech. accreditation program (Australia) –Teaching Fellow. Restructured the Shell Mtech program (Australia) such that the number of participants doubled and the first ten Shell staff graduated within 1 ½ year at reduced budget.
