Brim Brothers was an Irish start-up aiming to commercialise a highly differentiated, innovative and patented power meter, targeting avid cyclists in an exponentially growing market segment. The product was designed to address the key dissatisfaction area of existing solutions namely, affordability, mobility of use and ability to analyse dual left and right pedaling style. The company was supported by Enterprise Ireland under their High Potential Start-up Programme. Unfortunately Brim Brothers was liquidated in December 2018 due to on-going technical issues. Responsibility areas covered all non-technical functions - finance, operations, marketing and sales. Activities included fundraising, establishing legal entities, negotiating with the contract manufacturer (Taiwan), setting up the product ordering through fulfillment process, digital marketing, web site and shop design and trade exhibitions.

Key challenges were defining the business model and portfolio strategy, aligning the stakeholders and communicating to galvanise the combined 3000+ employees behind the key strategic initiatives. Beverage business growth 400% over 5 years on the back of developing and launching cups and sachets addressing affordability challenges. Foods growth 200% over same time frame delivered through redefined portfolio strategy, the commercialisation of traditional snacks and revenue management.
