About

My name is Manny Silverstein. I'm an electrical/software engineer and a musician. I started in audio the same way a lot of people do, playing music. As a bass player in a band in high school, I wanted to record my band's music. That desire eventually led me to appreciate the art and science of recording and I began focusing on my skills there as much as performing. As my recording skills improved, I became more interested in the technical aspects of audio gear. This lead me to Miami to study music engineering. During my college years I began to use my knowledge practically, working on projects such as guitar effects circuits, audio plug-ins, speakers, and more. To me, music engineering is where science meets art, and that's what I truly love about it. Currently I'm working as an engineer at guitar effects company Electro-Harmonix in NYC where I've designed both analog and digital effects including the Oceans Abyss, the majority of the NYC DSP line of small digital pedals, the Intelligent Harmony Machine, Eddy, Mod 11, Mod Rex, Tri Parallel Mixer, Nano Battalion, Hot Wax, Battalion, Bass Clone, Blurst, and more. In addition to my work in engineering, I've spent significant time working on original music with my indie rock band Loose Buttons. Our music has been featured in publications including Billboard, Stereogum, The FADER, NME, Consequence of Sound, Nylon, and Vice. In addition to playing bass in the band I have worked as a producer, mixing engineer, and mastering engineer for some of our music.
