Zürich Metropolitan Area
I am a medical doctor specializing in psychiatry and psychotherapy, sports psychiatry, as well as neurology. At present, I serve as the Chairman of the Medical Directorate and Head of the Clinic for Depression and Anxiety at the Psychiatric Centre in Muensingen, a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Bern. I also lead the External Sports Psychiatry Research Group at the University Hospital of Psychiatry Zurich. My clinical focus is dedicated to providing high-quality primary psychiatric care. Additionally, I specialize in sports psychiatry and sports psychotherapy, with a particular emphasis on the treatment of elite athletes. In the field of sports psychiatry, my research interests are centered on the systematic and empirical development of sports psychiatry as a medical specialty, as well as mental health and psychiatric disorders in competitive and elite sports. As Editor-in-Chief of Sports Psychiatry – Journal of Sports and Exercise Psychiatry, Associate Editor of the British Journal of Sports Medicine, Board Member of the International Society for Sports Psychiatry (ISSP), Chairman of the ISSP Scientific Committee, and Board Member of the Swiss Society for Sports Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, I am actively involved in shaping the future of sports psychiatry on both the international and national levels. To also actively contribute to the transformation, innovation, and future development of healthcare, I completed an Executive MBA in Business Engineering at the University of St.Gallen (HSG). With my master's thesis, I began focusing on performance management in healthcare enterprises and hospitals. These areas are set to become another key focus of my professional work in the years to come.
