An experienced Executive Manager and leader with a wide range of operational and policy experience across the environmental services sector. I am currently Director of Operations at the EA, setting the strategic direction for the c1950 people delivering vital national services. Previous experience leading the waste regulation business area in the EA, working with Government and industry to improve environmental performance of this vital sector. Particular strength in developing and articulating vision and strategy and communicating clear direction to ensure successful engagement and implementation. Able to build and work through relationships across the EA, local and central government, partner and private organisations A champion of diversity and developing a culture that empowers and motivates people to challenge and drive improvements. Commercial experience running successful trading business units in environmental analysis and remote sensing.
Leading the EA National teams covering catchment services, customer contact centre, enforcement, monitoring, permitting and regulatory services. I still have a strategic incident role as National Duty Manager, leading the EA incident response across all flooding and environmental incidents. And lots of other stuff that I don’t know about … yet!
I lead our approach to Waste Management and Regulation in the EA. This covers all aspects of waste strategy, planning, permitting compliance and enforcement of waste crime. I liaise with Defra and other Government Departments and Agencies, and with industry via trade associations, institutes like CIWM and also with NGOs and the media. I have a strategic incident role as National Duty Manager, leading the EA incident response across all flooding and environmental incidents.
