I am passionate about closing the educational opportunity gap and the importance of community change. I currently work in Communications and Development at Aspire Afterschool Learning, an Arlington nonprofit that provides holistic out-of-school learning support to historically underserved students. I love reading and telling stories, and I believe that storytelling is a powerful tool for advocacy and change. In my current role, I lead our private fundraising efforts and external communications, and I’m proud to be part of an organization that has a deep impact on the lives of Arlington students. Through my work and my volunteer activities in Arlington, I strive to make a positive change, amplify underrepresented voices, and ensure that everyone in this community has the resources and support they deserve.
• Lead private fundraising efforts, including foundation, corporate, and individual giving • Conduct grant prospecting, develop new grant language, and write/review/submit 30+ applications/year • Create monthly enewsletters, biannual appeal letters, recruitment flyers, and donor retention materials • Steward individual, foundation, and corporate donors through regular touchpoints • Plan annual fundraising gala, which includes leading the event committee, securing sponsorships, designing event materials, writing communications, organizing the raffle, and managing volunteers • Oversee new website development and content creation, resulting in a more accessible and engaging website • Manage and grow social media profiles to increase community awareness and engagement with Aspire
• Worked with the Study of Women and Gender Department on the Reproductive Justice History-in-Action Project • Performed archival research on activist efforts • Synthesized primary sources into easily digestible summaries
• Researched and wrote articles on policy challenges and potential solutions to drug repurposing • Developed social media outreach strategies to encourage clinician participation in the CURE ID app • Reviewed and entered COVID-19 case studies into the CURE ID app for broader dissemination of information
• Researched and wrote civics education resources on topics such as the executive departments and LGBTQ+ history • Spearheaded project to update and streamline the UN Sustainable Development Goals topics • Edited others' topics and revised older topics to ensure they matched the format of the series
• Collected biographical information on candidates running for election in various state legislatures • Conducted research on candidates’ professional/political experiences to assist voters • Maintained and updated database of candidate information
