Bottling Operations Enologist responsible for finished wine quality control, managing bottling crew tasks, running daily/weekly/monthly chemical analysis, ensuring cellar and bottling line are functioning and operating efficiently. Contributing for increased productivity from equipment and team and improved the speed at which certain equipment performed and reduced waste from bottling materials. During harvest I was responsible for fermentation management and organizing cellar crew to perform key fermentation duties such as pumpovers, punchdowns, inoculations, and additions. I was able to learn and communicate with a multilingual cellar team in order to make sure our wine quality stayed up to standards and team morale was managed during a high yield and high stress harvest season. Other duties include material inventory and extensive quality control measures for both finished product and safety for the bottling team. I created SOPS and a materials tracking system in Excel to predict future materials need to improve efficiency and reduce waste with materials ordering in preparation for future bottling runs.
Vintage Lab Technician & Cellarhand, performing all necessary crush and fermentation analysis including smoke taint micro fermentation experiments on all incoming fruit to determine via sensory analysis for the presence of smoke taint. Performed all other vintage cellar hand duties including but not limited to cleaning and sanitizing, punchdowns and pumpovers, additions, and fermentation monitoring.
Assisting head winemaker in all aspects of picking and winemaking decisions for 2019 vintage including fruit processing techniques, pressing, yeast selection and fermentation procedures, as well as the set up, design, and organization of new tanks and glycol cooling system. Maintained and monitored all fermentations for still and sparkling wines, advised on the implementation of new world winemaking practices in an old world setting, helped and advised on blending and bottling procedures. Performed plate and frame filtration for 2018 finished wines and prepped for bottling. Established new sanitation, health, and safety procedures. Performed pruning techniques in the vineyard to maximize fruit quality and sustainability in newly established organic vineyard. Worked with unique german varieties and wine styles as well as sparkling wine production and maintenance. Able to work independently and multi-task effectively.
