Initiated and led project for major power company to improve capacity of transportation process and eliminate rail and roadway detours at a primary power plant, resulting in significant improvements in company expenses and efficiencies. Primary objectives included designing 1100’ of new siding track to accommodate increased coal train capacity and horizontally and vertically realigning roadway over double track to eliminate an at-grade crossing. Participated in every aspect of the project from running the survey crew to collaborating with the environmental sub-consultants and representing our company at construction meetings. Prepared budgets, cost estimates and schedules.
Served as resident engineer and construction inspector for security improvements project at a major intermodal facility of a national railroad company. Aided in the rail yard expansion design for Suncor Energy in Commerce City, CO. New and existing track and components were used to increase rail capacity while meeting operational constraints and project goals. Collaborated with the City of Great Falls, MT along with other K/J offices to design, develop cost estimates, and resolve permitting issues for the installation of a sanitary sewer for BNSF Railway. Field work included construction inspection, surveying, and environmental sampling.
