Some elements keep returning to me, no matter my current position. Digital art. Online culture. Nightlife and events. Writing. I cherish my background as a club promotor, because the dance floor taught me who I am. I cherish my background in advertising, because I have witnessed first-hand how creativity can be a change maker. For the good. And for the bad. I'm a communication enthusiast - in whatever way, shape or form it presents itself to me. I love helping companies express themselves in the best way possible, and I enjoy helping people do the same. I like to ask questions. I thrive when working with people who put faith in each other, and I honestly believe we should all do our best to make the world a better place.
Table for ten is run by Marieke Samallo and Maartje Weijers. Together we have over 25 years of experience in the creative, event and nightlife industries. We’ve collaborated on many occasions and for us the key factors in working together are positivity, creativity and kindness. We thrive when we’re surrounded by like-minded people who love delivering high quality work. We believe that there are many ways to facilitate collaboration between brands, people or events while staying true to original intentions and making sure everyone benefits.
Time to write a new part of the story. After enjoying what feels like a ten year long rollercoaster ride through nightlife, events, festivals and advertising, I am turning the page and staring at a blank one. I cherish all the memories and experiences from my time in the various creative industries and I look forward to using them as the building blocks for something awesome: something I built myself. There are so many awesome independent entrepreneurs in my family and network that I look up to. Now, I'm looking forward to becoming one of them.
www.milkshakefestival.nl Milkshake Festival is an open-minded electronic dance festival that has made its mark in the city centre of Amsterdam. Born from the thought ‘everything is possible’ Milkshake shows that entertainment, music choice, choice of clothing, and status have nothing to do with sexuality. In previous years there have been 9 stages per day that showcase (inter)national event organizations, artists, and performance artists. The most played genres are electronic, house, disco, pop, techno, R&B, and dancehall. Milkshake is more than just a party, it's about community and cultures, statements, social impact, and creating awareness. Aiming to help guide everyone to the same place of being activists and empowering each other is what we believe should be implemented into daily routine. We encourage all Milkshake visitors to align with our values in order to create an inclusive and safe environment for everyone to feel welcome. We are working towards global unity, love, peace, and acceptance. Our intention is to create and give a platform to artists and performance artists that belong to underrepresented groups that are not yet wholly accepted in our society. Life is a party thanks to the great diversity of skin colours, body shapes, sexual preferences, and gender identities, Thick, thin, small, large, gay, straight, trans, black, white, and everyone in between: people are the salt of the earth and this is what we celebrate!
After 2.5 years of rocking with the Boomerang crew I am super excited to accept this new position. As Head of Culture I will join the management team and I will focus on maintaining a happy and healthy organisation.
Kapow! The first thing I said when I finished high school at 17 was: 'one day, I would like to work in advertising.' I had dreams of a playground for "grown-ups" where we'd just throw silly and fun ideas at each other all day, making the world a more colourful & fun place with our brainfarts. However, life has it's mysterious ways and after Art Academy I ended up as a marketeer in the Amsterdam nightlife. A crazy-cool environment which has taught me so much about street culture, self-expression and trend watching among youngsters. I even forgot about my advertising dream for a while.. That is, until the opportunity to join Boomerang presented itself. After setting one foot in the office for my first interview I just knew: this is the perfect next step. A place that challenges me to use my knowledge of the online social environments for a whole new purpose. A company with an contagiously positive atmosphere. But most of all: a team of like-minded spirits that love making cool things, and are not afraid to speak their mind. I am thrilled to be taking this next step in my career, and I'm looking forward to producing all sorts of relevant and pretty content with this awesome crew. Smilin' my way through the day!
When hosting a party with RUMOUR HAS IT, me and my colleague Eva Keune try to have as much fun as possible. Why? Because that's why we started organising the parties in the first place. We felt like we missed something in our direct surroundings that was just FUN. A cool party for girls who like girls (or at least, like to dance with them) can meet one another and enjoy great music. We've had so much fun with our special guests over the years: we've invited both Tracy & Stamie and Whitney & Sara from the hit show 'The Real L Word' to our events, but we've also worked with famous artists such as Peaches, DJ Isis & many more.
