I love telling stories and building brands in both the physical and digital space. For me, it always starts with people and the stories that move them, whether in writing, design, art, film or music. My career path travels the world and migrates from brand and creative management to engineering and digital development, mixing the intuitive and the analytical. While working as a brand manager at Unilever South Africa in 2002 for the local jewel, Mrs Ball's Chutney, which is firmly rooted in the local Braai (BBQ) culture, I first discovered the power of cultural resonance for brands. Returning to Amsterdam to join Heineken was the next step on my path towards strategic and digital brand development. While at Heineken in 2005, I saw an opportunity to bring my passion for strategy, creativity, and pop culture together. Together with my partner Eric Verhage, we founded ON, a creative content and digital commerce network dedicated to building brands in Clubs and Bars. Divesting of the network part of ON in 2008, we founded TAXI Europe and continued our creative and digital work for brands like Converse and Volkswagen. TAXI Europe was acquired by WPP in 2010. After 2010, I co-founded Delight Yoga, Wisdom in Business, The Playing Circle, The Loft and Spinoza. These initiatives functioned as a community of people, and a network of organizations united around one sole purpose: to guide people towards more conscious living and working. Currently, I’m building several brand in the wellness, food & beverage space, and I am trying to solve wicked problems in Cyber and AI. All in all, and first and foremost I'm a human being and proud father to Philip, Alexander and Victoria, and dedicated husband to Anna.
