• A 3-week teaching summer internship based in a secondary school environment • Worked closely with fellow teachers and interns in lesson shadowing, marking and lesson planning • Planned and delivered a 1-hour lesson independently to year 10 GCSE students on the concept of ecosystems
• A 2-week team project based around sustainable alternatives to current methods of packaging used by Reckitt • Was able to meet the deadline and ensure all suitable criteria proposed as a part of the submission
• A 4-week summer internship at the University of Birmingham research labs in the detection of plant pathogens using physical chemistry techniques
Working as a team, we were set a challenge based around medicinal chemistry and testing different solubilities. This project consisted of a lot of laboratory work in which predictions, data and conclusions had to be analysed. The project was very hands-on research-based and lasted 2 weeks. We had to ensure we met our deadlines and were ready to present our findings through the means of a 8 minute presentation. We were able to work on a real-world research project and develop a greater understanding of working in such an environment
• A 2-week Nuffield Research Placement (awarded after a vigorous admission and selection process) specialising in the sector of Chemical Engineering which took place in a virtual environment • Developed understanding of the 4 online platforms; Google Classroom, Google Docs, Google Drive and Google Calendar • Wrote a 26-page documentation on the research findings and presented a poster that acted as a summary of research
