I’m an MBBS graduate from the University College of Medicine & Dentistry (UCMD), University of Lahore, with a strong interest in clinical medicine, medical education, and meaningful patient care. During medical school, I explored roles beyond the classroom — working as a peer educator, mentoring pre-medical students, and gaining hands-on experience as a medical assistant and documentation specialist. These experiences gave me a broader perspective on both patient care and the systems that support it. I’ve also been actively involved in student-led initiatives, including medical education workshops and collaborative learning projects. Leading and contributing to these efforts helped me develop skills in communication, teamwork, and mentorship — and reinforced my interest in academic medicine. Currently, I’m building toward a career in medicine, with a long-term vision of becoming a clinician who not only treats patients but also teaches, mentors, and contributes to the evolving landscape of healthcare. • Rotating House Officer in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Al-Khidmat Mansoorah Teaching Hospital, Lahore. • Participating in the assessment and management of orthopedic and trauma patients in outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and operating room settings. • Assisting in clinical procedures, fracture management, casting, splinting, patient documentation, and multidisciplinary patient care. • Developing skills in musculoskeletal examination, emergency trauma care, perioperative management, and evidence-based clinical practice.
Supporting day-to-day clinical operations for a US-based healthcare practice using eClinicalWorks (ECW). Reviewing patient charts, verifying insurance information, and assisting with documentation within the EMR. Initiating and managing prior authorizations and coordinating with insurance providers when needed. Handling incoming fax communications, lab reports, and patient documents, ensuring they are correctly assigned and updated in the system. Assisting with screening and processing orders such as preventive screening tests and other provider requests. Working closely with providers and the clinical team to keep patient workflows organized and running smoothly in a remote setting.
Clinical Department – Prior Authorization Reviewed and analyzed medical documentation to support treatment plans and optimize patient care. Assisted physicians (MDs) in meeting prior authorization criteria and facilitated approvals for prescribed medications and procedures. Drafted medical necessity letters to support insurance submissions and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines. Summarized patient chart notes and maintained accurate medical records to support clinical decision-making. Participated in peer-to-peer reviews with insurance clinicians to advocate for patient care. Provided hands-on medical assistant support, including patient intake, documentation, and coordination of clinical workflows. Ensured adherence to healthcare standards and high-quality documentation across the clinical department. Involved in training of Clinical staff as well.
Participated in daily ward rounds, observing patient evaluations and contributing to discussions on treatment plans under the supervision of senior surgeons. Observed routine surgical procedures in the operating theatre (OT), gaining exposure to sterile techniques, surgical workflow, and perioperative care. Conducted patient assessments, including taking medical histories, performing physical examinations, and recording vital signs. Engaged in clinical discussions on differential diagnoses, treatment options, and patient management with the surgical team during the presentations. Developed foundational skills in patient communication, clinical reasoning, and collaborative teamwork within a high-volume surgical environment.
