I’m responsible for the day to day running of Good Housekeeping’s beauty content (print and digital)
Working across Good Housekeeping, Red and Prima four days a week, covering print and digital.
I oversee beauty content across Reach magazines, including Notebook, S, OK!, new!, Saturday, Love Sunday and TV Life, as well as ok.co.uk. I am responsible for all elements of beauty content, including forward planning, writing, copy editing, interviewing, shoot production, video reviewing, team mentoring, and effective content sharing across titles. Key skills - editorial expertise I have excellent contacts with PRs and industry experts, and I write about a diverse range of beauty topics in a way that is informative, entertaining and full of personality. I am an experienced interviewer, with numerous high-profile cover interviews to my name. With a background in sub-editing, I ensure all beauty copy is crisp and accurate. - digital focused As beauty director, I have overseen the considerable growth of beauty content on OK! online. My key focuses include optimising content for SEO, growing affiliate content and driving page views through launches, trends and celebrity beauty news. - commercial content I am the editorial lead on the OK! Beauty Box, and I create and edit content for okbeautybox.com, from product launches to blog articles. I also write regular advertorials for the Reach Inventions team. - commercial vision I work directly with brands to generate sponsorship opportunities and plan exposure around key launches. Finding new revenue streams through beauty is a key focus, and I set up a group-wide project with the licensing team to monetise editorial content across print and digital channels. This involves working with brands to set up reader trials for key product launches, generating authentic editorial coverage, and producing CRM newsletters for our highly-engaged community. I also connect beauty brands with the OK! Beauty Box.
Heading a team of three, I was responsible for the weekly health and beauty section in Notebook. Key elements of the job included writing and editing features, commissioning, running the annual beauty awards, working on commercial partnerships and conducting regular cover interviews with celebrities through health and beauty brands. I worked alongside the digital editors to oversee the expansion of beauty content onto Mirror online, and I co-edited the food section in print. I was also a regular contributor to other sections of both the paper and magazine, including travel and real life.
I joined initially to write a weekly beauty news column, and quickly saw my pages expanded to cover weekly features, reviews and interviews. I also set up and ran our annual beauty awards.
I worked weekly freelance shifts as a sub-editor on the features desk of Express newspapers.
