My job is to administer company policy and benefits to the 25,000+ employees that work in our hospital group. Since joining the team, I have helped the company merge nine hospitals into one unified system. My day is spent interacting with our employees by answering questions about company policy, open enrollment, payroll discrepancies, FMLA and maternity leaves, and trouble shooting issues with benefits such as medical, dental, vision, FSA and HSA accounts, as well as retirement accounts including pensions and 401(k).
My job was to answer any questions our participants had about their pension or 401(k) plans that we service. The day-to-day issues that typically came up were questions from retiring or retired people looking to understand their benefit package. I dealt with everything from checking balances, to claiming benefits, to ensuring people do not lose out on money through any sort of paperwork errors or misunderstandings of how the plan worked.
As a benefits consultant, otherwise known as a licensed insurance producer, I would take calls from people looking to inquire about benefits that would allow them medical, dental, vision, hearing, Rx coverage and other fringe benefits. My job was to understand their needs and to sign them up for Medicare coverage that best suites them.
My role was to engage business owners across the country, through the phone and through email, to convince them their business could gain exposure and ultimately an increase in sales if the utilized Yelp’s advertisement program. Success in this role was measured by the amount of revenue you can close. Every month for the two years I was there, I made sincere effort and was able to meet or succeed my monthly sales quotas on a consistent basis.
