Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
I recently completed an MSc in Social Anthropology at London School of Economics and Political Science where I wrote my dissertation on Vietnamese migration to the UK. My studies included modules on the anthropology of politics, development and digital anthropology. I also completed a module on qualitative research methods which culminated in a mini-ethnography of a London community centre. At LSE my research interests expanded to include Arendtian theories of action, repairing community bonds in the digital age and technologies of the body. I served as both the student representative and academic representative for the MSc Social Anthropology programme in the Department of Anthropology for the 2024–2025 academic year. I was also fortunate enough to play a show as the drummer for the legendary department band, the Funktionalists!
As a staff writer for Vietnam Coracle, I pitch and develop my own story ideas, renew some of the site’s most popular guides and produce all written content and images for my articles. My work covers destinations and cultural topics across Vietnam. - Conceived and researched original features ranging from detailed food and drink guides in Huế, Hội An, Quy Nhơn and Saigon to cultural and travel writing across the Mekong Delta and central Vietnam. - Renewed and updated several of the site’s most widely read guides to ensure accuracy and relevance for readers. - Explored abstract cultural themes such as salt coffee and hammock cafes alongside religious, historical and social sites. - Produced high-quality written content and photography to provide independent, accessible and well-researched insights into Vietnam’s diverse landscapes.
I produced and published episodes of the US Centre's The Ballpark podcast every two weeks to a high professional standard. I contributed to the podcast’s annual aims and supported the Centre’s wider goals, including growing aggregate listens, diversifying the guest base and aligning content with major academic initiatives, such as the university's broader focus on artificial intelligence and the centre's events. The role also involved analysing listener statistics and developing strategies to grow the podcast’s audience. In 2025, I am one of the key figures in leading the Centre’s first listener survey by scripting and planning promotional trailers, coordinating with colleagues strategies for its delivery, ensuring the survey reaches a broad and diverse audience. My responsibilities included researching and recommending guests, writing interview questions for each episode, collaborating throughout the full production workflow and publishing episodes across multiple platforms including SoundCloud and the university’s Contensis CMS system. The show was nominated for the Independent Podcast Awards in 2024, reflecting its quality and community impact within and beyond the academic sphere.
Over six years at RMIT, I am one of the few members of staff to have taught across all three of the university’s campuses in Vietnam, gaining wide experience with diverse student cohorts and different institutional settings. My primary role was teaching academic English and study skills on the SEUP programme, which prepares prospective undergraduates and postgraduates for study in English-language environments in Vietnam and Australia. I guided students in developing academic writing, research and presentation skills as well as building confidence in using English for both spoken and written communication. This period included the Covid-19 pandemic, during which I adapted to and delivered entire courses online, contributing to the SEUP department’s swift and successful transition to digital teaching. I also taught communicative English courses for Vietnam’s Department of Home Affairs, working with staff from multiple government branches to enhance their professional English communication. I also taught English courses for young learners preparing for IELTS exams and the department's summer school programmes. Alongside teaching, I supported colleagues by editing and proofreading academic texts from other departments, drawing on my attention to detail and editorial skills to enhance clarity, consistency and readiness for publication in international journals.
As sound engineer for A Vietnam Podcast, I produced and published all episodes for Season 8, handling editing, transcription, structuring and promotional content to ensure polished and timely releases. - Edited and cleaned multi-track recordings in Descript using AI-powered tools (e.g. Studio Sound) for noise reduction and voice clarity. - Produced final episode compositions with intro/outro music and balanced mastering. - Managed transcriptions in Descript including speaker detection, identification and accuracy checks. - Exported, published and distributed episodes via Buzzsprout. - Created teaser trailers and branded audiograms for social media promotion. Worked closely with the host/owner to ensure engaging content, consistent quality and timely release.
During my time at UD-UQ ELI Đà Nẵng, I contributed to program development, exam preparation and student assessment while supporting learners across a range of levels. - Supported the launch of the centre’s Young Learners program, coordinating multiple classes, assisting with curriculum development and designing assessments across all levels taught. - Co-taught two Ministry of Education and Training (DOET) classes with a focus on developing students’ listening and speaking skills for the MOET exam at the end of the course. - Delivered IELTS preparation classes across all four skills, supporting students with exam strategies, academic writing, mock tests and skills-building activities. - Conducted placement testing for new students to ensure accurate level allocation and progression pathways.
