I have spent more than 20 years turning creative product ideas into production-ready designs. Product development is where my strongest interests meet: rigorous engineering, creative problem solving, practical manufacturing, and the energy of bringing something new into the world. Through Artifex RDE, I have worked with more than a hundred companies across consumer products, medical devices, life sciences, defense, industrial systems, IoT, and manufacturing. My experience spans early concept development, proof-of-concept prototypes, production-intent design, vendor sourcing, compliance support, and manufacturing transfer for products ranging from low-volume specialty systems to million-part-per-year production lines. I work across industrial design, mechanical engineering, electronics, firmware, software, cloud systems, RF/radio systems, manufacturing engineering, and line setup. Depending on the project, I serve as chief engineer, product development lead, senior mechanical engineer, program manager, or hands-on technical contributor. I enjoy the full arc of product development: clarifying the problem, reducing technical risk, building the right team, resolving hard tradeoffs, and carrying the product into manufacturable form. My goal is always the same: help clients turn ambitious ideas into reliable, production-ready products that meet demanding technical, commercial, and customer expectations.
Artifex RDE is a talented, experienced, and awarded team of engineers and industrial designers to commercialize new products and refresh existing ones. Lead business operations, client relationships, project strategy, proposals, contracts, staffing, partnerships, vendor relationships, and company direction for Artifex RDE, a cross-disciplinary product development and engineering consultancy supporting clients from concept through production. Responsible for business development, customer engagement, program scoping, proposal development, contract negotiation, resource planning, strategic partnerships, financial oversight, and executive-level client communication across consumer, medical, life sciences, defense, industrial, IoT, and manufacturing programs. Operate as the senior business lead while maintaining deep technical involvement in project definition, technical risk review, product strategy, and commercialization planning.
Serve as Chief Engineer for complex, cross-disciplinary product development programs spanning industrial design, mechanical engineering, electronics, firmware, software, cloud systems, RF/radio systems, manufacturing engineering, testing, compliance support, and production transfer. Lead technical architecture, engineering strategy, system integration, technical risk reduction, design reviews, prototype planning, test strategy, manufacturing readiness, and cross-functional execution for products ranging from connected consumer devices and medical wearables to defense systems, life-science instruments, industrial equipment, and commercial hardware platforms. Responsible for translating ambiguous product goals into executable engineering plans, integrating specialized engineering disciplines, resolving technical tradeoffs, and guiding products from early concept through prototype, validation, production-intent design, and market release.
Provide hands-on senior engineering leadership across product development programs, combining direct design execution with cross-discipline coordination across mechanical, industrial design, electronics, firmware, software, cloud, RF, manufacturing, and supplier teams. Responsibilities include mechanical architecture, CAD development, enclosure and mechanism design, thermal analysis, materials selection, DFMA, prototyping, fixture development, vendor coordination, production documentation, line setup support, and transition from prototype builds into manufacturing-ready products. Function as a hands-on technical lead for high-complexity development efforts, contributing directly to design engineering while coordinating the broader team needed to deliver complete electromechanical, connected, regulated, or production-scale systems.
As Varsity Assistant Head Coach, I help lead both Varsity and JV swim practices, develop practice schedules, structure season-long training progressions, and support swimmers across a wide range of ability levels. My role includes technical stroke development, race preparation, meet planning, relay strategy, performance analysis, and helping athletes set and pursue meaningful individual goals. My coaching approach is balanced and athlete-centered. I believe high school swimming should challenge athletes, build discipline, and produce real competitive growth, but not at the expense of long-term motivation or joy in the sport. I am intentional about managing workload, avoiding unnecessary burnout, and helping swimmers sustain their energy and enthusiasm across all four years of high school. The goal is to help athletes compete at their highest level while still enjoying the friendships, team culture, school spirit, and personal growth that make high school athletics valuable beyond the pool.
