Over the last 26 years I have worked in a variety of leadership roles in production/manufacturing, logistics/supply chain, HR and General Management with two of Ireland's largest companies. All my roles to date have combined three key elements that really interest me - setting a strategic vision, leadership of a team and delivery of significant business outcomes. I have been fortunate to be able to drive these elements in organizations whose purpose and values mirror my own and I am proud to lead the retail business at Musgrave in my current position.
The role combines the following key elements: - As a member of the divisional board shaping and defining the strategic direction of the business is a key responsibility. The scope of this role includes all aspects of business strategy ranging from brand development to commercial optimisation and cost management. - Responsibility for the supply chain and logistics functions across four sites, a team of 1200 colleagues servicing close to 700 retail partners. This element of the role includes areas such as aligning our supply chain strategy to the business, change management, industrial relations and team development.
Operational responsibility for 4 distribution centres across the country servicing 650 retail outlets with 1.5 million cases of product each week. The depot teams total 1250 employees across management, warehouse and transport functions. Key aspects of the role include; strategic planning, change management and IR, driving operational and financial performance, talent development and ensuring best in class service to our retail partners in the SuperValu and Centra brands.
Full operational responsibility for a business unit producting 15000 tonnes of processed cheese for the Irish, UK and continental market. Role included responsibility for a team of 40 operatives and 5 managers along with all aspects of factory operational and financial performance. Major emphasis on cost reduction and innovation as well as strong customer interactions.
Responsibility for all aspects of production in the Listowel yellowfats plant including; Plant performance and efficiency, team management, quality of product, supplier interface, multiple retailer interface and continuous improvement initiatives including significant capital projects.
