Greater Sacramento
I design efficient structures that will facilitate the Architect's vision and perform well in earthquakes. I also benefit tremendously from listening to Contractor feedback. It is important to work as a team with designers and builders to solve problems in creative ways. There are usually multiple cost effective solutions to any problem.
We provide structural engineering of multifamily and single family residences, institutional buildings including steel and concrete, retail, offices, restaurants, and warehouses. We also design seismic retrofits including soft story retrofits and site structures such as equipment enclosures and shade structures.
Here are some of the projects I have worked on: Huntington Library Visitor Center - Gravity and lateral design of 5 buildings. Designed structural steel beams and columns with eccentrically braced frames and special moment frames; special reinforced masonry shear walls in auditorium. Designed EBF/SMF footings. Playa Del Oro - 260 unit mixed use 4 stories wood on concrete podium. Designed conventional and force transfer wood shear walls and gravity framing, structural steel beams and columns at non-stacking framing conditions, special reinforced concrete shear walls. Conducted design and construction administration (CA) phase including site visits, answering RFIs, and collaborating with contractor and architect to solve construction issues. Designed several similar wood framed projects. Downtown Commons in Sacramento - 16 story concrete parking, retail, hotel, residential. Performed modal analysis. Designed 2-way concrete conventional and P.T. slabs, columns, beams, and structural steel support framing for glazing systems and precast panels. Coordinated exterior skin support with architect, contractor and subs. Supervised 2-way slabs design by junior engineers. 6th & Bixel - Designed metal stud exterior facade. Detailed stud top tracks connections to slab and concrete walls for drift and vertical deflection to minimize damage to facade. UCSB Faculty Club Renovation and Addition - Designed retrofit and composed report using ASCE 31-03 and ASCE 41-06. Lateral analysis and retrofit design of irregular three story structure (triangular in plan and elevation). Extensive detailing and involved C.A. process including answering RFIs, reviewing submittals and performing site visits.
