    Whatever broke on the shop floor, I fixed, from calibrating flowmeters to filling pot holes and everything in between. For about four months I also served as a technician in the then-new Brakes Department, where I refurbished C-130 brakes entirely. This included metal refinishing, painting, lock wiring, replacing parts, tolerance and hardness testing, and hydraulic testing.

    I worked in the steam plant (engine room) side of both nuclear power plants aboard USS Nimitz. This included mechanical maintenance, lock-out/ tag-out procedures, and machinery operation. I specialized in operating and tending the ship’s distilling units, turning seawater into fresh water for use as both potable water and reactor feed water. I proudly deployed in 2017 to the Arabian Gulf as part of Operation Inherent Resolve.
