Research Assistant to Associate Professor Anthony Niblett. My primary research project was compiling a substantial indexed database of Canadian merger, cartel, and dominance cases under the Competition Act and Combines Investigation Act. The role also involved general research assistance, including assisting with preparation for conferences.
I was responsible for merger clearance/authorisation applications and investigations of non-notified mergers. Public cases I was involved in during this time included the Trade Me/Limelight merger clearance application (clearance was declined; the parties did not appeal), the Goodman Fielder/Lion merger clearance, and the United Flower Growers/FloraMax non-notified merger investigation.
