Working on EUV sources
Designed, fabricated and tested a novel tightly-confining waveguide and cavity device for all-optical frequency conversion. This technology allows the realization of optical converters 10-100 times shorter than conventional weakly-confining devices. Developed numerical tools for designing non-linear semiconductor optical devices. Developed the entire fabrication process. Attained state-of-the-art propagation loss for GaAs-based tightly confining waveguides. Built a high-precision optical setup for characterization of sub-wavelength devices. Achieved for the first time enhanced second harmonic generation in an optical cavity fully-integrated in (and collinear to) the waveguide. Performed extensive signal processing of experimental data. Mentored three graduate students. Supervised two undergraduate summer students.
