He graduated in Nuclear Engineering in 1973 at the University of Pisa; he joined to ANSALDO NUCLEARE (a company dealing with nuclear power plants design and construction, as well as with decommissioning and service, owned by ANSALDO ENERGIA) in 1974 until his retirement in 2015. He has gained experience in core design and safety analysis of heavy water reactors (CANDU, CIRENE) and of light water reactors (PWR PUN, AP600, BWR Caorso, SBWR). In the ‘90s he was involved in Research & Development activities in the area of thermal-hydraulics of passive systems and participated to TACIS projects in support to the modernization of VVER reactors in the central-eastern European countries. From 2000 up to retirement he was involved in the development and design of Generation IV nuclear reactors and Accelerator Driven Systems (ADS) participating to several European Framework Programs (FP) projects. In particular, he was work package coordinator for most FP projects related to ADS and LFR technological development. His main experience is in core physic, thermal-hydraulics, reactor safety and reactor systems design.
