Education advisor and consultant in Leeds, UK with 15 years senior leadership in primary schools including headship and at trust level. Experience predominantly in schools serving areas of educational disadvantage. I am currently working in a freelance advisory role working in partnership with trust and school leaders and teachers to develop their CPD offer inline with best research informed practice. My work is largely inspired by Teach Like a Champion by Doug Lemov and Responsive Coaching by Josh Goodrich. I work alongside leaders in trusts and schools wanting to improve teaching and learning through responsive coaching, live coaching and deliberate practice. I offer practical advice and guidance to build sustainable internal expertise. In schools who find themselves requiring additional capacity in this area, I also carry out the work of a teaching and learning professional development lead in schools. My work has been particularly effective in supporting schools moving to or maintaining exceptional Ofsted grades. I can work on long term or short term projects to ensure consistently excellent teaching across school. I am particularly committed to nurturing leadership in others; coaching; developing teaching and learning; equality, diversity and inclusion and using research and cognitive science to improve classroom practice. I am passionate about behaviour and culture, curriculum development, and teaching and learning that enable every student to thrive, regardless of background. I have leadership experience across a range of primary schools and an all through school, as well as working with universities, ITT providers, and facilitating NPQs I am keen to connect with others who are passionate about overcoming educational disadvantage, building exceptional schools, learning more about ED&I and helping teachers be the very best they can be. I provide practical teaching and learning consultancy for schools and trusts, drawing on my extensive experience as a headteacher and in trust leadership. I offer advice and support on high-quality CPD, helping to build consistency and strengthen classroom practice. I work alongside leaders to support the implementation of effective coaching and research informed professional development approaches, helping schools embed live coaching, responsive coaching, and deliberate practice in ways that are sustainable and tailored to their context. Much of my work is based on Teach Like a Champion, but I also work within schools' own priorities and strategies. How I work: • I work in partnership with current leaders to develop expertise from within; • provide expert additional capacity by coaching directly with teachers; • or offer a blend of both, depending on need. My work has been very beneficial for schools preparing for Ofsted and those seeking to raise and sustain higher teaching standards across schools and multi-academy trusts over the longer term.
