Devising and implementing media strategies to gain media coverage and raise the profile of the organisation and its work with particular focus on the European Refugee crisis. Working with Policy and advocacy colleagues to create strong, persuasive and impactful outputs on key areas of focus including the Europe refugee crisis, women’s protection and empowerment, urban refugees, education in crises and cash programming. Building relationships with partner organisations to better amplify our joint goals to European audiences. Supporting fundraising colleagues in the writing of funding proposals and adhering to visibility requirements for donors including Dfid and ECHO.
The David Nott Foundation is a UK registered charity which provides surgeons and medical professionals with the skills they need to provide relief and assistance in conflict and natural disaster zones around the world. As well as providing the best medical care, David Nott Foundation surgeons will train local healthcare professionals; leaving a legacy of education and improved health outcomes.
Managing a team of four media relations officers covering a range of humanitarian and emergency response work in the UK and overseas and managing relationships with National Societies around the globe. First point of contact for issues of reputational risk to the organisation and media lead on the Overseas Critical Incident Management Team. Responsible for running the media response during emergency appeals and the monitoring and evaluation of external communications. Liaising with Advocacy and Policy departments to formulate strong positions and news lines and working closely with the AV team to produce compelling video to engage supporters. Planning coverage, training spokespeople and liaising with journalists. Managing the organisation’s media budget. Led on the British Red Cross participation in the 2016 Guardian and Observer refugee charity appeal.
