BINST ARCHITECTS has shaped the Belgian architectural landscape for over fifty years. Founded in 1973 by Jo Crepain, the firm has continually adapted, expanded, and redefined its DNA. From early milestones to pivotal turning points—including the transition to CREPAIN BINST ARCHITECTURE in 2005 and the untimely passing of Jo Crepain in 2008—our trajectory has been shaped by resilience and renewal. In 2015, the 10-year milestone of CREPAIN BINST ARCHITECTURE was marked with the publication of UNITED, capturing the spirit of a practice in motion. That same year laid the groundwork for a new future in Antwerp. By 2018, the firm was renamed BINST ARCHITECTS and relocated to Luikstraat in the heart of 't Zuid, establishing a cultural headquarters that merges architecture, art, and urban dynamism. Five years later, the firm marked its 50th anniversary with UNTITLED—a monumental publication of nearly 1,400 pages. Conceptual and analytical in approach, the book offers a new blueprint for the profession, structured around eight thematic barcodes tested against 150 of our projects. Spanning urbanism, architecture, interior design, product development, and cross-disciplinary ventures—including art and fashion—UNTITLED positions itself as an atypical reference work and a cornerstone in architectural literature. The firm’s headquarters is embedded in a transforming district, closely linked to the Scheldt quays, the filled-in Zuiderdokken, and Antwerp’s evolving public realm. Alongside this move, the launch of B7 created a platform for dialogue and shared knowledge. Weekly sessions with partners strengthen both internal cohesion and external ties—reflecting our integrated and inclusive design culture. In recent years, we have intensified our focus on competitions, feasibility studies, and urban strategies. This renewed ambition is mirrored in our growing team of 60 collaborators, a dynamic collective grounded in Methodology, Education, and Engagement—M.E.E. as our foundation. Through our multidisciplinary design practice, we explore the intersections of architecture, interiors, and urban design—constantly strengthened by the conceptual depth of our B brand objects and the curatorial perspective of our Room for Art, B scene. Our visual language is refined, responsive, and tailor-made to each commission. Looking forward, BINST ARCHITECTS continues to pursue innovation, international expansion, and architectural authenticity within an ever-evolving profession.
