About In 2006, I invented the world's first NFC payment watch — certified for contactless payments with Mastercard® and today exhibited in the British Museum as "The Museum's Payment Watch." That was before most people had ever heard of contactless payments. I'm Lucas Alexander Karl Scheybal, founder of LAKS — an Austrian wearable technology company I started in Vienna in 1986. What began as a passion for design, art, and music evolved into a lifelong mission: combining cutting-edge technology with outstanding craftsmanship to make everyday life simpler and more stylish. At LAKS, I personally oversee the design and innovation of every product we create. I believe wearables should be more than functional — they should be objects you're proud to wear. That's the standard I've held since day one. Today, through LAKS.com and LAKSPAY.com, we continue to push the boundaries of payment wearables — building products where technology disappears into design. If you're working on the future of fintech, wearables, or contactless payments — I'd love to connect.
