I am medical student at Harvard Medical School who is deeply passionate about learning. My main interests include molecular biology, women’s health, and working with underserved communities. I have had hands-on experiences in both laboratory and hospital settings, both of which have helped me develop interpersonal and organizational skills that will be useful for a career in medicine.

      My work in the McVey Laboratory involved researching the role of the gut microbiome in Drosophila lifespan and fitness. More specifically, the relationship between certain bacteria in the gut of Drosophila and tumorigenesis was under study through the use of several molecular biology techniques including PCR, RT-qPCR, RNA Sequencing, RING assays, Smurf assays, and tissue staining/visualization.

      As a teacher's assistant, I led various Portuguese recitations where a Mini-Lesson was taught to a small group of students. Students were guided through engaging activities aimed at improving their pronunciation and communication skills in Portuguese.       While working this position, I assisted the nurses with the perioperative care of patients during procedure days. This included organizing the patients’ charts beforehand, calling them prior to the procedure to review their medications, allergies, and all other essential questions, taking their vitals the day of the procedure, and assisting with their discharges. In addition, I got the opportunity to assist the doctor in the operating room, which allowed me to learn how to properly scrub in and remain sterile.
