Louis has more than twenty years of Drawing Office experience in Structural Civil and Mechanical engineering field, related to Mining infrastructure and structural projects. His technical skill set includes Structural Steel Layouts and Detailing, Mechanical Layouts and Detailing and Civil Layouts. Basic Project management and with a good understanding of drawing office Procedures, specifications and standards. As the Managing Director and Senior Designer of LSCAD, he provides high-quality and cost-effective draughting and design services to clients who need a small but skilled team for their projects. With over 20 years of experience in various disciplines, such as structural, Mechanical, Civil and Basic Piping. Some of my Experience include the following Industries: Underground Mining, Copper, Gold, Platinum, Coal, iron Ore, Manganese and Diamond mining. Louis am proficient in most Autodesk and other CAD software. Previous experience incudes managing a team of professional designers and engineers, both in the local Johannesburg office and in the GEC Kolkata office in India. Louis was responsible for the workload, standards, the technical guidance, Managing manhours and meeting the due dates on projects. Louis also ensured that the compliance and compatibility of the designs and drawings were done to the relevant codes and procedures. Louis collaborated and communicated effectively with all shareholders and delivered innovative and informative solutions to meet the clients' needs and expectations.

Design & Engineering Coordinator Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Coordination Set team goals, allocate tasks, clarify roles, and track progress. Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to the design team. Reported directly to the Project Engineering Manager, with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Project Manager, ensuring alignment between design deliverables, engineering strategy, and overall project milestones. Design Review & Client Interaction Responsible for setting up and managing weekly design and 3D model review sessions with the client. During reviews, provided technical input, proposed solutions, highlighted missing or required information, and ensured all actions and decisions were disseminated to the appropriate stakeholders. Proactively drove 3D model maturity for internal and client stage gate reviews. 3D Model Governance & Technical Oversight Ensured 3D modelling progress and workflows adhered to project procedures. Coordinated and expedited clash detection and clash resolution activities. Ensured design concepts, deliverables, and 3D models were prepared, reviewed, and approved in line with the project management plan. Quality, Risk & Change Management Implemented quality assurance processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency across all deliverables. Identified design layout and interface risks, constraints, and opportunities early in the design phase. Document Control & Workflow Oversight Managed document control resources and established best practice workflows to support efficient document handling, transmittals, revision control, and approvals. Maintained accurate project documentation, reference information, and change records. Continuous Improvement & Efficiency Exercised strict control, monitoring, and reporting of resource man hours. Identified and implemented opportunities for procedural improvement and best practice adoption within both the project and the broader business unit.
Louis holds a supervisory position and supports the project engineering manager in planning and coordinating deliverables and activities related to design and modelling in medium to large-scale minerals and metals projects. His primary objective is the design coordination function to ensure consistency across project engineering disciplines and design deliverables, by establishing standards and norms, managing activities and practices, facilitating effective communication and reporting for technical drawings and 3D models.
