About

I am a highly motivated researcher with a BSc in Psychology, an MSc in research methods in psychology and experience in qualitative research and literature reviewing. My research interests include the health and wellbeing of people with learning disabilities and the healthcare experiences of people with chronic illness. I have undertaken qualitative research at all stages of the research process including design/co-design, preparing ethics applications, recruitment and data collection (interviews, focus groups and surveys), transcription, data analysis (thematic and discourse analysis) including use of the data analysis software NVivo and preparing outputs such as papers, webinars and toolkits. I have conducted qualitative research on sensitive health related topics including restraint in mental health care and the experience of healthcare inequalities by people with learning disabilities. I have extensive experience in reviewing work including supporting a systematic review for the Food Standards Agency and scoping/rapid reviews, with a particular focus on reviewing evidence on health and social care tools and resources. I am experienced in the literature reviewing software packages Rayyan and Covidence, have completed online Covidence training and have recently completed the Cochrane training Conducting an Intervention Review. Additional research skills and experience include: writing papers, reports and presentations, mapping research, co-production/patient and public involvement with NHS staff, advocacy groups, service users and carers, working with surveys including administering, analysing and writing up survey data (qualitative analysis of open text responses and descriptive statistics for quantitative data), supporting evidence collection and analysis for REF testimonials, supporting course development/reviewing content and preparing ethics applications including NHS applications (IRAS). I have also organised conferences and workshops for student societies, research groups and charities such as Learning Disability England, including collecting and analysing feedback. The roles that I held prior to my research career gave me extensive experience in managing scientific data/records and administration including research administration. I recently completed completed a foundation course in project management. I am open to work for up to 2 days a week from August 2026. I am ideally looking for work that can be done remotely but am open to hybrid work within Cambridge.

      As a Research Associate in the Faculty of Wellbeing, Education and Language Studies I am supporting multiple projects including: • Conducting a scoping review for DAPPLE - an NIHR funded project exploring models of palliative and end of life care for people with learning disabilities • Supporting a scoping review and managing survey data for the project Milton Keynes: A dementia-friendly city for all. • Co-creation of training materials aimed at raising awareness of cybervictimisation amongst healthcare professionals. • Reviewing learning guides to support new module development. I also support the activities of the Centre for Society, History and Learning Disabilities (formerly known as SHLD), including: ·        Leading on social media activities   ·        Co-lead for the Centre's Advocacy, Rights and Social Justice theme  ·        Leading on the archiving of SHLD materials to the University's repository system  ·        Supporting the update of Exploring learning disabilities course, leading on health and employment sessions. ·        Contributed to SHLD launch event and associated inclusive activities.

      Since completing my PhD I have undertaken multiple consultancy contracts for the Open University, with a focus on literature reviews, data analysis and writing. I have provided support to the following projects: • Cyber-victimisation of disabled people: Healthcare professionals as an instrumental support channel. I led on scoping reviews and data analysis of open text survey data on healthcare professionals’ perceptions of the impact of cyber-victimisation on people with long-term conditions. • Challenging Reproductive Injustice for Women with Learning Disabilities: From menarche to menopause, including conducting a scoping review. • Young mothers’ experiences in West Africa: A scoping review • Supporting the Overton trial project to pilot the efficacy and use of Overton in the field of self-advocacy policy for people with learning disabilities in England and Wales. • CAREN (Carer Research and Knowledge Exchange Network) – updating the website with current carer research and resources. • Organisation of the Social History of Learning Disabilities inclusive annual conference. • I led on data collection analysis and report preparation for pilot projects exploring the role of self-advocacy groups in supporting the health and wellbeing of people with learning disabilities and autism during the COVID-19 pandemic and on the funding of self-advocacy groups.
