Lorenzo Di Francesco is a London-based photographer. Focused on stories, travel and people, he was recently featured by Suitcase magazine and shortlisted in two categories, Food Bloggers and Politics of Food, in the prestigious Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2019 competition. With over 20 years of experience as a designer and creative director and he has worked with some of the world’s biggest brands and cultural figures, from Gucci, Peroni, Land Rover and Johnson&Johnson to Harvey Nichols, Miller Brands, the Dazed Group and situationist poet Robert Montgomery. He’s a food-obsessed adventurer and he spent most of his life before kids travelling around the world. After a long pause, he decided it was time continuing his passions and he recently returned from a year long round the world project with his writer wife and two small children, Olivia and River, to show them the wonders and different cultures of this planet. They were shooting, filming and writing about travel, culture, food and kids, whilst gathering research for other related projects. They spent time in Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore, Sydney, Chile, Mexico, Cuba, Iceland and around Europe. This was just a beginning and he takes any chance to continue exploring. Lorenzo is now focused exclusively on photography and working on a series of personal projects including his first book, but is available for commissions and collaborations.
The Foreign Embassy is a series of feasts popping up in Ramsgate and beyond. No set agenda, no fixed address. Just incredible locations, inventive food and excellent people around a single table. Each feast has a secret location, revealed the day before the event. The menu will have a theme, which could be based on a single ingredient, the place, or something else entirely. While the food itself will be revealed on the night, we will give you plenty of clues so you know if it’s right for you. Every event is different, from rustic beach gatherings to decadent fine dining in historic buildings. From black tie to no cutlery. There is no pre-booking. Lorenzo now co-owns the Italian cafeteria Quarantacinque in Bethnal Green, a little delicatessen in Wapping,Bottega Deli, and is the creative director of the acclaimed Italian restaurant Bottega Prelibato in Shoreditch. Most recently, he has designed, built and run a canteen for Gucci, designed the menus and run the restaurant for two editions of Miller Brands’ headline-grabbing ‘House of Peroni’, taken cinema-goers’ tastebuds on a whirlwind ride with an eight-course edible accompaniment to Sorrentino’s ‘La Grande Bellezza’ and been on a judging panel with renowned chef Theo Randall. Hailing from Rome, Lorenzo specialises in taking Italian traditions and twisting them around his little finger to create surprising and conceptual menus. Little Wander are a family of four on a brilliant, brave or stupid journey, depending on your point of view. Jo and Lorenzo met at a pretentious London club full of people they hate. A mutual obsession with good food and adventure got them talking and the rest is history. Eight years, a house, a restaurant, a five-year-old and a baby later, they have left the 9-5 to take their kids and their tastebuds off on a one year round-the-world family trip of a lifetime. The Di Francesco family flew to Kathmandu on September the 10th, 2017. They spent one month in Nepal, followed by a week in Delhi and a road trip around Sri Lanka. Then Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore, Sydney, Chile, Mexico, a dance and a daiquiri through Cuba, France, Switzerland and Italy. They are writing, shooting, home-schooling and home-cooking as they go. They’re trying everything from the street food of Chiang Mai to cooking casseroles in the ground in Chile. Opened in Spring 2015, Quarantacinque is the latest opening. A caffé on East London’s Roman Road, offering serious Italian coffee and excellent lunch and snacks.
