Sustainability and Climate Action/Resilience professional, I am passionate about our planet and human connection. As an Environmental Lawyer, Project Manager, and Consultant my journey has spanned Latin America, Europe and the United States. Born in Mexico City, I launched my career as one of the pioneer lawyers devoted to the practice of Environmental Law. Following seven years immersed in this nascent environment I transitioned to Europe managing high level projects for the Italian and Mexican governments on climate change initiatives under the Kyoto Protocol scheme as well as trade missions related to renewable energies, sustainable design and waste management. In 2010, I transitioned to the US where as a Consultant I draw upon a vast and varied experience managing projects for companies, entrepreneurs and non-profits in the areas of Sustainability Action Planning for School Districts, Climate Action Planning for Higher Education, Public Transportation and Locally Grown Power from a unique an innovative solar PV technology. The “red thread” throughout my career is an innate concern for humans, our environment and working across regions. I am fluent in four languages (English, Spanish, French and Italian), I have a heightened curiosity about other cultures and a comfort level across geographies. In my various roles I have interacted with senior leaders, officials and representatives from Fortune 50 companies (British Petroleum, Shell, Chevron, John Deer, Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble), government ministries in Mexico, Italy, the EU, regulatory and trade authorities, international organizations (United Nations) and leading non-profits (World Wildlife Fund, World Resources Institute and the Hewlett & Flora Foundation). My credentials include degrees in Law, European Studies and certifications in Global Sustainability from UCLA and Project Management. To keep myself centered, I practice Yoga and I am an Instructor holding five certifications involving 400 hours in Kundalini Yoga and Meditation. Likewise, I am certified in Yin Yoga. Currently, I am in my 5th year pathway to obtain the Iyengar Yoga certification and I am a Tai-Chi practitioner.
Manage the program that involves the coordination of groups across the country that are interested in bringing a solarPV micro-factory to their communities. We combine an innovative solar PV technology that resolves a -root cause- problem in the solar industry, "hot spots" in solar PV panels, with a non-profit business/social enterprise model that reduces GHG emissions, develops green workforce, stimulates local economic development and tackles environmental justice! – Collaborated with 10+ consultants to update Los Angeles Metro’s Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP) – Conducted research in order to identify climate hazards affecting the agency’s critical assets – Conducted research on climate resilience strategies in relation to global transportation systems – Facilitated internal stakeholder’s workshops within the context of the pathways of adaptation methodology – Assisted in the RFP’s writing process for all-hazards mitigation planning in the transportations sector
Americorps - Civic Spark Fellowship – Project managed several phases of the adaptation planning process for Cal State LA’s Climate Adaptation Plan – Assisted in stakeholder engagement activities to update the university’s GHG inventory – Performed stakeholder outreach and engagement for planning of the campus sustainability zero waste plan – Led and executed the Urban Heat Island effect reduction project in surrounding communities of East LA – Conducted campus situational/ vulnerability assessments and identified critical systems/assets – Spearheaded identification of climate hazards and goals to develop strategic resilience plans for campus systems
– Assisted in sustainability planning processes by coaching seven school districts in Los Angeles County (Pasadena, Santa Ana, Montebello, Las Virgenes, Rowland Heights, Castaic, Los Angeles Office of Education) – Created sustainability action plans, qualifying for Proposition 39 funding, energy and gas utility incentives/rebates – Prepared presentations and assisted school leadership in evaluating potential sustainability projects in areas such as energy efficiency, water conservation, waste diversion, climate change, responsible procurement, and metrics – Supported school districts in forecasting savings (10 – 20%) in energy, water, gas and CO2 emissions
