Nagi Bioscience aims to revolutionize the way toxic or beneficial effects of substances are tested today, by introducing the first “Organism-on-Chip” technology. It combines the use of microscopic worms (Caenorhabditis elegans) as validated in vivo models for compounds screening with the first laboratory device for their fully automated in vitro culture, treatment and analysis. Finally, “in vivo testing at the in vitro scale”: ethical alternative to animal testing and key to boost innovation and efficiency in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and chemical industries.
The CCEA has the mission and the responsibility to weigh the suffering of laboratory animals against the benefits of research and consider alternative methods.

Pioneering a new research field (C. elegans for aging research and drug discovery) in the lab of Prof Johan Auwerx. Development of new technologies/protocols for biological and screening applications using C. elegans. Team management: responsible of 3 Ph.D. and 6 M.S. student projects. Author/co-author of > 30 scientific papers in top journals, > 25 conference contributions and 5 patent applications (2 licensed). Laureate of "The University Latsis Prize" in 2014.
Management of a high-throughput genetic screening for the identification of new mitochondria modulators in the lab of Prof Andrew Dillin.
Research: Aging regulation in C. elegans under caloric restriction, led to three scientific publications. Obtained two national grants for funding the research.
