• Responsible for RCN’s national political engagement, building relationships with MPs, Ministers, Select Committee members, civil servants and special advisers. • Responsibility of lobbying on relevant legislation, including developing positions, drafting amendments, communicating with MPs and Peers ahead of debates, devising and implementing strategy for lobbying content and liaising with the relevant government department and bill team. • Providing briefings for parliamentarians on a variety of policy areas; liaise with MPs ahead of debates and relevant announcements to garner support and consensus. • Co-ordination and content of Select Committee, APPG and political party policy submissions. Managing preparation ahead of organisation oral evidence to Health Select Committee. • Parliamentary monitoring and organisational wide dissemination of a wide range of policy areas, legislation, government department consultations and policy announcements. • Liaising with government departments on significant policy announcements such as the government’s response to the Francis report. • Managing the organisation’s presence at party conferences including MP and stakeholder engagement, relationship building, event co-ordination and developing and executing programmes for Chief Executive and senior management. • Attending meetings with MPs and Ministers representing the RCN. • Integrating parliamentary work with wider communications campaigns. • Campaign content for wider external communications including providing material for website, RCN Bulletin, blogs, Twitter, Facebook and e-newsletters. • Event organisation and management of parliamentary events such as receptions for MPs and seminars to examine legislation.
