I lead on the development and implementation of the University's roadmap to net zero carbon, collaborating with colleagues to work towards our target to reach net zero carbon by 2040. I am responsible for our ISO 14001 certification, setting and reviewing the University's environmental objectives, ensuring continued compliance with environmental legislation, chairing our environmental compliance group and setting our programme of internal audits. I lead on the development, implementation and review of the University's sustainability policies and action plans such as our Environmental Policy, Sustainable Food Policy, Waste Policy and Biodiversity Action Plan.
Main responsibilities include: - Maintaining the University's environmental management system, ISO 14001 and EcoCampus - Maintaining ISO 50001 certification - Improve biodiversity around the University's campus and achieve the targets set out in Aston's Biodiversity Action Plan - Embed sustainability into procurement processes, working through the Flexible Framework - Waste management and improving recycling rates - Running the staff engagement Go Green Scheme - Help to organise and run engagement events such as Fairtrade Fortnight and Go Green Week - Work to improve sustainability within Aston laboratories

I was responsible for implementing an Environmental Management System to ISO 14001 within Ceram. Main responsibilities included: - Leading a team of people through the implementation process - Development of an Environmental Legislation Register - Development of Aspects and Impacts for all areas of the business - Development of environmental objectives and targets - Training of staff - Undertaking internal audits - Monitoring and measuring energy and waste data
