Hello! My name is Lisa Pham, and I am a life-long learner who integrates my many extracurricular and academic interests and experiences into my work with youth of diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. As an educator, I am passionate about teaching for social justice and providing the next generation of change-makers with the tools necessary to critically read the world, organize, and advocate for themselves and others. In all parts of my life, I am committed to learning from community members, families, students, colleagues, and researchers to inform my teaching and create relationships centered around care and equity.
• Led Art, Gym, Homework Help, and S.T.E.A.M. programs with up to 30 youth in program space • Provided Trauma-Informed Care and Conflict Resolution with a focus on Restorative Justice Spanish • Guided up to 25 club members at a time to field trip locations and after school transportation, for up to 2 miles • Communicated proficiently in Spanish to better serve linguistically diverse patrons, facilitate language learning amongst youth, and confirm and uplift club members’ linguistic and cultural identities
• Collaborate with lead researcher Emily Hentschke, undergraduate research assistants, and Second Harvest Food Bank staff to collect qualitative data on CalFresh and experiences of food insecurity in Santa Cruz County through focus groups led by community members • Create infographics, worksheets, and exercises for focus group facilitation trainings in English and Spanish • Co-facilitate trainings in Spanish to prepare community members facilitating focus groups • Supervise participants’ children at the Live Oak Resource Center where trainings are held • Analyze and interpret qualitative focus group data using IBM SPSS Statistics
• Digitally design brochures, infographics, and pamphlets for the purposes of outreach and education on offices and resources within EEP such as Title IX, Whistleblower, and Disability Accommodations and Resources • Create informational videos and digital workshops on various topics, including No Contact Directives and Conduct Appeals • Collaborate with co-intern on website revision proposals and advertisements for policy-related open forums
• Phone banked and trained volunteers to ensure proper assistance was available at food distribution sites • Wrote, produced, and edited a new and updated volunteer orientation video • Collaborated with other food bank programs, including Calfresh outreach, on-site crew, and nutrition education, by making posters and flyers for events and aiding in translating social media posts to Spanish • Filled roles at drive-thru food distributions: directing traffic, leading distribution lines, and guiding volunteers
