Hands-on Operations Manager in ERW steel tube manufacturing, balancing production pressure with maintenance constraints, workforce realities, and data-driven operational control.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director and top management I am responsible for the following: • Managing overall operations, capacity and manpower application, customer demand planning, and assisting in supply chain and raw material orders to value of R70 Mil. • Ensuring effective implementation and management of the Quality Management System (QMS). • Optimizing production throughput and efficiency. • Supervising 3 senior managers, 4 production managers, and 1 dispatch manager, overseeing an average workforce of 600 people. • Conducting weekly overhead production planning and achieving a daily output of 45k to 55k diverse range of products. • Providing advisory support to other divisions and departments, including sales. Additionally, the following departments reports to me: • Maintenance and Engineering, • Design & Development, • Quality control department, • Production departments: o Mining roof bolts, o Ventilation, o Pots pre-stress support units, o Props temporary roof support units. I also carry a GAR 16.2 appointment to ensure safety in the workplace in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
