Seeking Pre-Med Opportunities

San Francisco Bay Area

About

After graduating from UC Davis with a Bachelor's in Science in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior, I took a gap year abroad as a native English teacher in South Korea. I am interested in pursuing the pre-med path, I hope to gain any experience I can in order to expand my knowledge and interest in the medical field before applying to medical school. Below are details of the experiences I've gathered in the field thus far. Throughout high school, I volunteered at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco at the California campus. During my time here, on top of carrying out all of my responsibilities, I had the opportunity to talk to the nurses and doctors I was assisting and gained more insight on what working in a hospital environment was like. Fast forward to my 2nd year at Davis, I participated in the university's Health-Related Internship at the UC Davis Medical Center where I served as a volunteer on the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). My duties included playing with patients and patient family members when they came to the play room. I also made rounds on the floor to other patients that were unable to leave their rooms. Compared to my time at CPMC, this position involved more patient interaction. At the beginning of 2020, I was hired as a student lab assistant at the UC Davis Sleep Lab with Dr. Ian G. Campbell, and I worked there until I graduated in 2022. Here, I was exposed to the field of research and participated in the data collection process. Since returning to the United States in 2024, I have worked as an Injection Nurse at a seasonal flu and COVID vaccine clinic run by Grace Pacific Medical Group, and I am currently working as a Medical assistant at Pacific Medical Center, a primary care private medical office. I am currently on the hunt for a medical experience closer to San Francisco. Please contact me through my email at [email protected]
