Lilan Dayananda is a globally recognized social-tech entrepreneur, climate advocate, and innovator dedicated to leveraging technology for sustainable development. He is the Co-Founder and CEO of ELZIAN AGRO, an agritech company that develops smart agronomy solutions to help farmers adapt to climate change, extreme weather conditions, and resource constraints. Through his leadership, ELZIAN AGRO has pioneered technology-driven approaches that promote food security, biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, climate resilience, and sustainable agriculture. Lilan has received international recognition for his contributions to social innovation and sustainable development. He was named among the Top 10 Social Entrepreneurs at the Global South-South Development Expo by organizations including the United Nations Office of the Youth Envoy, UNFPA, ITU, and UNDP Youth Co. He is also a Commonwealth Youth Award recipient, recognized for his impact in advancing sustainable development and empowering vulnerable communities. Beyond his entrepreneurial work, Lilan actively contributes to global climate and sustainability initiatives. He serves as a member of the Technology Executive Committee of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and has held leadership roles in international networks such as the World Youth for Climate Justice (WYCJ) and the Global Youth Climate Network (GYCN). His work focuses on bridging technology, climate action, and social impact to create scalable solutions for global challenges. His expertise spans emerging technologies, including the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, machine learning, automation, blockchain, drone technologies, and digital platforms. By integrating these innovations into agricultural and environmental systems, he supports farmers and communities in improving productivity, optimizing resource use, strengthening climate resilience, and enhancing livelihoods. Passionate about climate justice, sustainable innovation, and inclusive development, Lilan collaborates with governments, international organizations, academic institutions, private-sector partners, and grassroots communities to drive meaningful change.
