The longest-running conflict resolution and restorative justice legal-aid center in the U.S., serving communities since 1976. -Exercise prudence with the Board in the control and transfer of funds -Faithfully read and understand the organization’s financial statements and otherwise help the board fulfill its fiduciary responsibility -Know the organization’s mission, purpose, goals, policies, programs, services, strengths, and needs -Oversee and evaluate all programs, support the staff, and be an advocate in the community -Actively participate in one Board committee or task group -Actively promote the organization in the community -Actively support and collaborate with other Board members on activities to meet the board’s annual fundraising goals -Promote Community Boards' fundraising events and earned income streams -Hire, oversee and evaluate the Executive Director -Authorize the annual budget on expenditures and income -Actively take part in setting policy and strategic planning. -Play a key role in shaping the organization's strategic direction by providing guidance, oversight, and expertise in long-term planning: contributing to the development and review of strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and goals, assessing risks and opportunities, and advising on financial and operational sustainability. -Collaborate with executive leadership to evaluate progress, make data-driven decisions, and adapt strategies to evolving market conditions. -Recruit future Board members from diverse communities for the skills and areas of influence needed on the Board -Be a responsible steward of the Community Boards' legacy and mission with the resources available -Attend occasional planned events to meet the volunteers and staff of Community Boards, and to celebrate our shared vision Left due to long-term relocation back to Asia.
