Currently working on Pre Construction and Project Assurance for J Murphy and Sons as part of the HS2 North sector.
Pre construction involves Designing out risks and hazards associated with Gas mains replacement. We reduce the level of uncertainty facing construction with a number of innovative pre-construction techniques whilst making sure Balfour Beatty stay compliant with the CDM2007 Regulations. I am currently responsible for managing a team of 12 Pre-Construction designers that deliver CDM2007 compliant construction packs along side facilitating and designing out construction constraints. These constraints include Traffic Management, Environmental, Liaison with Local Authorities, stakeholders and all other 3rd parties to help insure right first time, deliverable and efficient designs. The Pre-Construction department for the Balfour Beatty GDSP North West contract is responsible for the delivery of construct-able designs for approximately 400km of Gas Mains Replacement per annum over an 8 year contract with National Grid. The Pre-Construction function is also responsible for the handover of all HSE/CDM information to operations and construction. This is facilitated through documented detailed handover meetings. It is my responsibility to ensure that morals and standards we work to remain high and that we also strive for improvement and progression.
