  • Research Assistant at Kaiser Permanente Hawaii
    Jun 2018 - Oct 2020 · 2 yrs 5 mos

I was a research assistant and co-author working on two clinical research papers regarding the potency of diagnostic imaging techniques, interventional procedures, and current imaging guidelines in the current Health Maintenance Organization in the United States. One of the papers was specifically on imaging and interventional guidelines for chronic lower back pain, and the other paper was for thyroid cancer. I contributed in writing portions of the submitted papers. The efficacy of the imaging guidelines at the time was ultimately determined by comparing the percentage of interventional procedures that followed diagnoses using various imaging techniques such as MRIs and ultrasounds. In this sense, we were able to determine if the current imaging guidelines were cost efficient for both the Health Maintenance Organization as well as the patient. This position consisted of a collecting data from radiology databases and reading diagnostic scans. The paper on thyroid cancer is currently an accepted publication.
