Lester Lyons-Hookham is an award winning director and creative director based in Vancouver BC. Originally from South London (UK) his background is in visual arts; a graduate of the fine arts faculty at Central Saint Martins School of Art, London. Originally working in a range of mediums; from sound-based conceptual art to light-based sculptural installations - his non-conventional entry into the film industry is based on years of self-teaching and experimentation. Driven by concept and collaboration, Lester strives for a multi-faceted process that is highly hands-on, working alongside clients to direct video that is uniquely tailored to the project's needs and a product of deep collaborative effort. Developed from his strong multicultural upbringing in London and refined over years of self-producing, working directly with a variety of rising and established artists on Canada’s west coast, Lester's directing style ranges widely from glossy world-building to gritty DIY approaches. Whether following a lighthearted idea to an unexpected end, writing tightly knit narratives or shooting with a looser, more intuitive approach - his work is marked by a naturalistic sensibility, eye for detail and a down-to-earth execution of simple yet striking concepts.
