As Vice President, serving a 1-year term, my primary role was to act as a liaison between the members at large through their member driven and sustained caravans for listings, deals and issues both legislative and legal that the real estate industry is faced with and the voting members of our Board of Directors. The communication of both was integral in keeping all members feeling heard and not within a silo effect or creating disenfranchisement within the organization as a whole. The strength of our organization is only as strong as links between the two. Fostering the growth of our members and their willingness to step up as future leaders of our organization was a privilege.
Serving the GSDAR as a Board Member includes lobbying, membership growth and relations, corporate governance and membership education. Knowledge of key legislative issues that affect our industry as a whole as well as private property rights is required. Conveying that knowledge to our members is crucial in effecting policy change and implementation. Our members are licensed by the state of California to provide real estate services and to conduct real estate transactions and their legal compliance is a basic fundamental of our organization.
Oversight committee for new and upcoming legislation locally, state and nationwide and/or candidates that directly affect real estate holdings and new transactions, homeowner's rights and the industry as a whole and provide recommendations to the Board of Directors for action.
Legislative meetings and functions between SDAR and Congressman Scott Peters on behalf of the National Association of Realtors.
Provide a direct link between Assemblyman Randy Voepel and CAR with Real Estate concerns regarding upcoming legislation that affects real estate holdings and new transactions, home owner's rights and the industry as a whole while lobbying for action by Assembly-member to support/oppose said legislation.
